In a GitHub issue thread on Unitree's z1_sdk repo, engineer Aleksandr Kashirin reported that switching the Z1 arm from high-level to low-level command mode triggers unpredictable jerky movement that blows a motherboard fuse; other users independently confirmed hitting the same failure over the following two years, with Unitree eventually supplying a replacement board while some worked around it by swapping the SMD fuse themselves.
