Published reviewStefan_M (Lab Automation Forums) · lab running a PF400, a UR and a UFACTORY arm side by side for microplate handling

Of the three arms in their lab, the UFACTORY unit disappointed: less reach and flexibility than expected, a gripper that lacks fine control, reliability issues and occasional dropped plates; for equal money he would pick the Precise PF400. Another poster notes the UFACTORY arms are a quarter or less of the price of the alternatives.

  • Roughly a quarter of the price of PF400/UR alternatives, per the thread
  • Less reach and flexibility than expected for plate handling
  • Gripper lacks precise control
  • Reliability issues, occasionally drops plates

Published reviewScott Heimendinger (comment on General Robots, Substack) · first 'real' robot for a solo user whose robot's job changes daily

Bought an xArm 6 as his first real robot: the specs do not match the big brands but it cost about a quarter of a name-brand arm, and the deciding factor was UFACTORY's GUI - download, connect, press record, wave the arm, play back in 30 seconds - versus big-brand IDEs he found built for experts programming one looping task for weeks.

  • Roughly a quarter of the price of name-brand cobots
  • Record-and-playback GUI usable within minutes
  • Blockly and Python APIs plus physical collision detection
  • Specs do not compete with big-name brands
