How to compare the 1X NEO purchase and subscription
1X lists NEO Early Access at $20,000 with a $200 preorder deposit. The company also advertises a $499-per-month subscription with a later delivery schedule, so the two routes should be compared over the same period and with the same assumptions about service, cancellation and ownership.
The 2026 Early Access delivery is limited to the United States, with international expansion planned from 2027. Early units can learn some household tasks with teleoperation assistance, making privacy, connectivity and the human-in-the-loop service part of the buying decision rather than a separate technical detail.

1X NEO reviews
No verified owner reviews yet. We publish only reviews from people who can show they own the robot, and we summarise — never rewrite — published third-party tests.
Published reviewNicole Dominikowski (Notebookcheck) · write-up of the WSJ hands-on test of a pre-production NEO
Notebookcheck's summary of the WSJ test: NEO vacuumed well and can handle dishes and laundry, but could not crack a walnut and needed over a minute to retrieve a water bottle, with the fridge door the main obstacle; the tested unit ran under remote human control in 1X's "expert mode", with visual and audio data sent to 1X servers.
Vacuum cleaning performed very well
Despite about 30 kg weight it can lift up to 68 kg
Failed to crack a walnut; slow fridge retrieval
Relies on remote human operators for tasks it cannot do autonomously
Owner reviews are the one thing this index cannot compute, so we take them seriously: we ask for proof of ownership before publishing, we never edit your verdict, and we never pay for reviews. Your contact details stay private.
