Agility unveils Digit 5 with $300M in orders — still no price tag
Agility Robotics unveiled Digit 5 this week, the fifth generation of its warehouse-and-factory humanoid and the first built to work next to people without a safety cage. The company says an independent safety controller and onboard sensors let the robot detect a nearby person and respond by stepping aside, stopping, or dropping into a seated position — removing the physical barriers earlier Digit generations needed on a floor.
The spec sheet moved too. Digit 5 can repeatedly lift up to 50 lb. (22.7 kg), a 40% payload jump over the outgoing model, and its 90-minute battery now recharges in 9 minutes — a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio Agility contrasts with the prior generation’s 2:1. At 5’11” and 284 lb. with a 7.2-foot reach, it’s built for pallet and tote work rather than fine manipulation. Interchangeable, ISO-mounted end effectors and Agility’s Arc fleet software round out the pitch.
What Agility didn’t disclose, in the press release or anywhere we could verify, is a price. That’s notable given the company says it already holds more than $300 million in multi-year customer orders as of May 2026 — real money committed to a robot with early access still a year out (first half of 2027) and general availability, for North America, the EU and the UK, not promised until the end of 2027.
For comparison, the current, shipping Digit is sold through robots-as-a-service contracts Agility has previously priced around $8,500 a month, with early outright-purchase deals estimated near $250,000 — figures that came from an investor deck, not a list price. Whether Digit 5 lands in that range, above it for the added payload and safety hardware, or below it as the line matures, is a number Agility is keeping to itself for now. Until it publishes one, the $300 million in orders is the only price signal on the table — and it’s not one buyers outside those contracts can act on.
