Feather Robotics Launches a $29,990 Developer Humanoid, Discloses $7.6M Round

Feather Robotics came out of stealth this week with a wheeled, bimanual robot platform aimed at developers rather than consumers — and, unusually for the category, an actual checkout price. Feather’s own site lists two 7-DoF arms, a 600 mm-travel torso, a holonomic wheeled base moving up to 1.3 m/s, dual hot-swappable batteries good for about 10 hours, and roughly a meter of reach, starting at $29,990 for the standard build. The store’s fully-loaded “Full System” configuration — both arms, grippers, a stereo camera, entry-level compute — checks out at $31,990; a single-arm “Half System” runs $16,995. Compute is sold separately and swappable, from a $500 Jetson Nano up to a $5,500 Jetson Thor, which is the point: Feather wants to be hardware other companies’ AI models run on, not a closed stack like Tesla’s Optimus or Figure’s platform.

The launch came with a funding disclosure. According to a regulatory filing from Seed Innovations Limited, one of its backers, Feather raised $7.6 million in a pre-seed SAFE round led by Gradient Ventures, with Builder Capital, Geometry, Virgo VC and Seed Innovations itself participating, at a $60 million valuation cap. The same filing says Feather had already booked seven-figure revenue from early customers — including a manufacturer with roughly $4 billion in annual sales — from small-batch sales that predate this public launch.

The number is worth reading against the closest things already in this index. Hello Robot’s Stretch 3 is a single-arm mobile manipulator at a published $24,950; Pollen Robotics’ Reachy 2 is a dual-arm research platform at $70,000. At $29,990–$31,990 for two arms, Feather lands squarely between them, and like both it ships with an open SDK instead of a closed app ecosystem. Whether “bring your own AI” beats a vertically integrated humanoid is the open question the market will answer; for now, it’s one of the few developer-facing bimanual platforms anyone can check out and buy today rather than wait on an enterprise pilot.
