UBTech's UWORLD U1 stops being a preorder: first units delivered in China

Five months after UBTech opened preorders for its UWORLD U1 companion humanoid, the company has started actually handing units to buyers. Deliveries in China began around September 16, 2026, closing the gap between a robot people had paid a deposit on and a robot people could turn on in their living room.

The pricing hasn’t moved: 119,800 CNY ($16,500) for the semi-torso U1 Lite, 169,800 CNY ($24,000) for the mid-tier U1 Pro, and 880,000–990,000 CNY (~$121,000–$136,500) for the full-body U1 Ultra, depending on configuration. What’s changed is that more than 13,000 people who reserved a unit at the June 30 launch event are now starting to find out whether the robot they ordered matches the one they saw on stage. Early buyer reports circulating online are mixed — some units reportedly look and move noticeably rougher than the launch-event demo units, which is the standard risk with any first-run consumer hardware sold off a promotional reveal rather than independent hands-on review.

We’re moving U1’s status from preorder to for-sale on the robot’s page to reflect that: money has changed hands and hardware has shipped, which is the bar we use for availability regardless of how the reviews shake out.

The bigger story is UBTech running two humanoid product lines at once. Walker S2 is priced and sold as an industrial worker — enterprise deployment, factory floors, orders in the hundreds of millions of yuan. UWORLD U1 is priced, at the low end, like a premium appliance for a consumer bedroom. Whether a five-figure companion robot holds up to daily use outside a launch event is the question actual delivery data will now start answering, one shipped unit at a time.
