Unitree's G1+ Costs More Than the G1 It Sits Beside
Unitree has added a new SKU to its humanoid lineup rather than replacing the old one. The G1+ is listed on Unitree’s own store at $15,000, tax and shipping excluded — $1,500 above the standard G1, which remains on sale at its usual $13,500 with no spec changes.
What the extra money buys, per Unitree’s own spec page: a two-axis neck (pitch -25° to 36°, yaw ±110°) the base G1 doesn’t have, shoulder and waist motors with 110% more peak torque and 72% less heat at the same torque, arm motors with 43% more torque, a six-microphone array with dual 10W speakers, and a local air-cooling system. Height, weight (~35kg) and the 9000mAh/2-hour battery are unchanged. Arm payload rises marginally, to about 3kg standard and 4kg on the EDU variant — pricing for the EDU tier is still “contact sales,” same as the outgoing G1’s programmable configurations.
Chinese coverage of Wednesday’s launch quoted a domestic price of 95,000 yuan including tax — roughly $13,300 at spot rates, actually below the $15,000 Unitree’s international store charges before tax. It’s a familiar pattern for Unitree: the yuan sticker price that circulates in press coverage and the dollar price an overseas buyer actually pays rarely line up, mostly because the US figure excludes tax and freight that the domestic one includes.
For now G1+ sits next to G1 as a pricier alternative rather than a straight swap — Unitree’s site still sells both. Whether the original G1 eventually gets discontinued, the way the H1 gave way to the H2, is the thing worth watching over the next few months.
