Vbot's SuperDog crosses 13,000 units sold — a consumer robot dog with a three-figure-to-low-four-figure price

Most of the robot-dog category still sells to researchers, universities and inspection contractors. Vbot, the consumer brand of Beijing’s Vita Dynamics, is pitching its SuperDog at households instead, and the order numbers now back that up: more than 5,000 new units were booked at IFA Berlin 2026 alone, on top of 6,540 pre-orders when China sales opened in December 2025. Cumulative global sales passed 13,000 units across 15 countries by September 8, which the company says makes SuperDog the best-selling consumer robot dog by unit volume — a claim we can’t independently verify, but the order counts in its own releases are consistent across two announcements eight months apart.

What separates SuperDog from the research-grade quadrupeds most buyers associate with the category is price and intent. It debuted at CES 2026 and began commercial deliveries in China in May at RMB 9,988, about $1,400. The IFA Berlin pre-order, opened this month for European buyers, lists the same base unit at €2,988 — roughly $3,200, a more than two-times markup that reflects import duties, EU compliance costs and a different retail channel rather than a different machine. Vbot rates the base SuperDog for a 12 kg carrying payload, with LiDAR and ultra-wideband positioning for leash-free following. A separate EDU line, aimed at developers and light commercial use with expansion mounts for arms and extra sensors, runs from €7,988 to €10,988 — closer to where Xiaomi’s CyberDog 2 and Unitree’s Go2 already compete.

The gap between SuperDog’s China price and its Europe price is the more durable story here: it’s the same pattern the index has tracked across humanoid robots all year, where a Chinese domestic launch price and an international retail price for the identical hardware can differ by 2-3x before a single spec changes.
