Construction Robot Cost 2026: $1,250 to AUD 7,800,000

How much does a construction robot cost? As of September 2026, anywhere from $1,250 for a rail-guided wall-rendering station sold by the unit on Chinese B2B marketplaces to AUD 7,800,000 for FBR’s Hadrian X, a truck-mounted bricklaying robot whose base price the manufacturer publishes on its own website. Between those two numbers sits a category that mostly refuses to name a price at all — and the refusal, not the numbers, is the real story.

We checked thirteen machines across nine kinds of construction work. Four have a price you can read on a manufacturer’s page. One is priced only by rental. The rest are sold by quotation, by subscription, or — in two cases — not sold as machines at all: the maker keeps the robot and bills you for the wall it built. If you came here to price a plastering robot or a floor-screed robot, the honest answer is that no maker of either publishes a number, and this guide explains what that means and how to get one anyway.

All figures verified in September 2026 against the manufacturer’s own page where one exists. The two figures marked “reported” come from trade press and are not confirmed by the maker; we label them as such rather than round them into a price. Nothing in this table is an offer.

Why almost nobody publishes a price

Three structural reasons show up across the whole category, and they explain more than any single number does.

The robot is a fraction of the project. A construction robot is bought to do a job on a specific site, and the job comes with site survey, BIM integration, training, an operator, consumables and a support contract. Dusty Robotics’ own pricing page describes three components — daily utilization, platform access and implementation — and gives a figure for none of them, because the figure depends on the project. Half the market sells the wall, not the robot. Monumental, the Dutch bricklaying startup, does not sell its robots at all: it brings them to site, lays the bricks and invoices for output, with the hardware valued at up to $100,000 per unit and a reported build cost around $25,000. Canvas finishes drywall with its own crews running its own machines. Dusty is subscription-only. For these companies a list price would be meaningless, because there is nothing to buy — and for a contractor it converts a capital decision into a per-project cost, which is often the point.

The buyer pool is small and the sales cycle is long. COBOD’s BOD2 has a published starting price of $400,000 and a lead time of about five months from order to operation; FBR sells the Hadrian X “to select partners” through an application form. When each sale is a negotiated project with a customer the maker will know by name, a public price list mostly tells competitors what to undercut.

None of this is unique to construction — AMRs and enterprise humanoids run on the same quote-only pattern — but construction adds a fourth wrinkle: the robots that do publish prices are the very largest machines, sold by the companies with the longest track record, so the published numbers are the highest in the category rather than the lowest.

The classification trap: two “plastering robots” a hundred times apart

Search for a plastering robot and Chinese B2B marketplaces will show you machines at $1,250 to $5,650, minimum order one unit, some rated for up to 1,000 m² per eight-hour shift at a 4.2 m working height. Okibo, the Israeli maker of the EG7, will show you an 800 lb, 27-inch-wide machine on 5 kWh batteries that fits through a standard doorway — and no price.

These are not the same product at different price points. They are different classes of machine that share a word.

A rail-guided rendering station rides up and down a vertical guide that the crew sets against each wall by hand. It sprays or spreads mortar evenly along that one travel path. It does not see the room, does not plan a route, does not know where it finished and does not move to the next wall on its own. It replaces the physical labour of rendering, not the judgement of where to render, and it needs a crew around it the whole time.

An autonomous finishing robot scans the room in 3D, plans its own coverage, drives itself to each surface and works without guides. Trade coverage of the EG7+ describes it reaching 24 feet and finishing roughly 1,000 square feet — about 93 m² — per hour. It replaces the crew’s positioning work as well as the spraying, and it is priced by the project because the project is what it sells.

The price gap between these two classes is not three-to-one. It is two orders of magnitude, and it exists because they solve different problems. A buyer who prices the first and specifies the second has made the most common mistake in this category, and nobody in the market goes out of their way to correct it. Our index does.

Segment by segment

Wall finishing: plastering, drywall, painting

This is the segment that started this guide, and it is the emptiest on price. Okibo’s EG7 takes pre-orders with no published figure. Canvas’s 1200CX — a 30-by-34.5-inch machine with a 12-foot reach that muds and sands gypsum board to a level 5 finish alongside a human crew — is delivered as a service, not sold. Bright Dream Robotics, the construction-robot arm of Chinese developer Country Garden, has built 45 to 50 robot types across 12 product lines including plastering, painting and tiling, and sells them into its parent’s own projects and to other developers under contract, with no public pricing anywhere.

The one part of this segment with transactable prices is the rail-station class described above, and it is honest to say that those machines are a mature, cheap, unglamorous product that a Chinese factory will sell you one of tomorrow — as long as you know what you are buying.

Concrete floors: screeding and troweling

Beijing Fangshi Robotics publishes full specifications for its four-wheel laser screeding robot: 2 m working width, 400 to 600 m² per hour, ±2 mm precision, 370 kg, 1.7 kW, six hours of continuous work, and a claim of replacing three to five workers. It publishes no price; the page says to contact the company. Troweling robots from the same cluster of Chinese makers follow the initial set of the slab and finish it — the same quote-only pattern, the same very specific specs.

Bricklaying: a truck-sized machine and a doorway-sized one

FBR’s Hadrian X is the one construction robot whose maker publishes a headline price: AUD 7,800,000 base, subject to final specification, options and tariffs. For that you get a truck-mounted boom with 32 m of reach that lays up to 360 blocks per hour — blocks up to 600 × 400 × 300 mm and 45 kg — and can complete the external and internal walls of a standard double-brick house in a day. FBR says it is available to purchase for select partners.

Monumental, from the Netherlands, went the other way: small robots that fit through doors, deployed by the company itself and billed per output. The contrast is the whole segment in one line — one company sells the largest machine in this guide at a published price, the other sells no machine at all.

Rebar tying

Advanced Construction Robotics moved TyBOT to direct purchase in January 2026 after years of renting it, and trade press put the number at $425,000 for the standard 67-foot working width and $455,500 for the configuration that expands to 117 feet, training included. The maker’s own page rates it at up to 1,000 ties per hour and reports more than 65 field deployments with at least 25% savings on installation. This is the best-documented ROI in the category, and it is worth noticing that it took roughly a decade of rental deployments before a purchase price appeared.

Layout on the slab

Dusty Robotics’ FieldPrinter prints the floor plan — walls, openings, penetrations — directly onto the concrete from the BIM model, replacing two people with a tape and a chalk line. Dusty does not sell it: the pricing page lists daily utilization, platform access and implementation as the three components and directs you to sales for figures; a subscription around $6,000 a month circulates in trade coverage and is not confirmed by the company. HP’s SitePrint takes the opposite model — you own the hardware and pay per print. Neither publishes a purchase price.

Demolition: the one segment with real rental rates

Remote-controlled demolition robots have existed for thirty years, and it shows in the pricing: a US rental house lists the Husqvarna DXR 305/315 at $1,000 a day, $3,000 a week and $8,900 a month, and the compact DXR 145 at $725, $2,100 and $6,000, with breakers, grapples and crushers rented on top — a 45-ton crusher for the DXR 305 adds $278 a day. New units are sold by dealers on quotation; used Brokk machines trade on equipment marketplaces in the tens of thousands of dollars depending on hours. This is what a mature construction-robot market looks like, and it is the exception.

3D printing of buildings

COBOD’s BOD2 gantry printer starts at $400,000 with financing available, per the manufacturer’s page, and prints buildings up to three storeys within a 14.62 × 49.41 × 8.53 m envelope at 250 mm/s. Configuration determines the final figure and you request a quote for it — but the floor is published, which puts COBOD in the same small club as FBR.

Drilling and earthmoving

Hilti’s Jaibot drills ceiling anchor holes from a BIM model semi-autonomously; Built Robotics retrofits autonomy kits onto ordinary excavators rather than selling new machines. Both are quote-only. A note on “market size”

For the same year, 2026, published industry reports put the construction-robot market at $105.8 million, at $1.29 billion and at $7.79 billion. That is a 60-fold spread, and it does not reflect three methodologies so much as three definitions of what counts as a construction robot — with the demolition, 3D-printing and equipment-autonomy segments in or out depending on who is counting. Any market-size figure for this category is useless without its definition, and the reports rarely give one.

What is measurable is the driver every manufacturer cites: the US Bureau of Labor Statistics counts more than 600,000 unfilled construction jobs, with industry projections of a 1.2 million worker shortfall in 2026. Robots in this category are priced against that labour, which is why the TyBOT’s “at least 25% savings” claim matters more to a buyer than its sticker.

How to get a real number out of a quote-only vendor

  1. Decide which class you are buying before you ask. A rail station and an autonomous robot are different purchases with different crews. Specify the class in the first email and you will stop receiving quotes for the wrong one.
  2. Ask for the deployed price, itemised. Machine, site survey, BIM setup, training, operator hours, consumables, support. The robot is a fraction of the bill everywhere in this category, and the fraction is only visible when the quote is split.
  3. Ask what it costs when it is not working. Subscription and rental models bill by day or month; a slab that isn’t ready or a site that floods is your cost, not the vendor’s. Get the idle terms in writing.
  4. Get a Chinese quote for comparison, even if you intend to buy Western. For screeding, rendering and plastering, Chinese makers publish specifications that let you compare like for like, and a factory quote is the cheapest negotiating leverage you will find. Where China fits — and where we do

Look down the table again and a pattern appears that mirrors every other category we track: the Western machines are quote-only or service-only, and the Chinese machines are quote-only or sold by the unit on a marketplace. The difference is that the Chinese side of this market is a factory you can actually write to. Fangshi publishes its screed robot’s specs to the millimetre; Bright Dream runs fifty robot types through its parent’s own construction sites; the rendering-station factories will sell one unit to anyone.
